SeeingtheEveryday.com
For my internship, I suggested a re-design of a website that had been made with only image mapping. I found that their site was not user friendly and did not meet current web standards. I worked for a month with the art director and operations manager to organize and combine content and develop new content. I took the photographs, designed, and coded the site using HTML, CSS, and Javascript functionalities. For user functionality, please visit seeingtheeveryday.com.
RebeccaMade.comFor a college course, I learned the basics of web programming. I designed a personal website and learned how to code using HTML and CSS, with a tidbit of Java Script. Although it was a new language to learn, I greatly enjoyed designing for an interactive interface. For user functionality, please visit rebeccamade.com.
MyHealth
In my work for the wellness program at BYU, I was able to work with a nutritionist and a web programmer to design a new website from the ground up. We developed MyHealth as a tool for full time faculty and staff to chart their eating habits, custom foods, weight loss, and exercise. We also recorded their results from medical screenings and gave them suggestions on ways to be healthier.I was part of the project before the content was finalized so I was able to design the entire project. I started by coming up with a logo and color scheme. From there I designed the way users would click on buttons, tabs, and other links. I worked on this project for over a year under the Wellness supervisor. Because most of our users are over 35 years old, we wanted the site to be very user-friendly and have a clean and simple design. It was important to have a main dashboard so the user can pick and choose the section they would like to use. I chose fun, cool colors that match the BYU website because they are gender neutral and encourage healthy living.
Although the final site is much different from my original design, the experience of designing every small piece of a website was very rewarding. It is going to be released in June 2011 for 4,300 users.
The MyHealth program is only available to BYU faculty and requires a password login. Thus, I have included several screen shots below of the final website.
For functionality, I can sign onto the site in person or in an interview if interested.
Activault Web Banners
Activault is a software company in Utah. For a redesign of their site, they needed web banners on their homepage to break up the text and provide a place to quickly download their product. I created the following 3 banners to rotate on the site.
Seeing the Everyday Blog
For my internship, I also worked on wordpress to customize this blog. I added a gallery, changed the layout, added a favicon and social media widgets.
Education in Zion
This site is by wordpress but customized by a fellow student employee. Although I did not design the site, I frequently added content and used the wordpress functionality to add blog posts, new pages, and image galleries.
